Mission High School Class of 1989 20^th Reunion

Meeting Minutes

April 26th, 2008

I. Call to order

Jerry Flores called to order the regular meeting of the Mission High School 20^th Year Reunion at 11:15 on this April 26^th, 2008 at the River of Life Church.

II. Roll call

Denise Coleman conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Jerry Flores, Denise Coleman, Lino Ochoa, Irma Venecia, Sally Anzaldua.

III. Approval of minutes from last meeting

Denise Coleman read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.

IV. Open issues

a) Venue for Saturday night banquet deposit as today we have a total $805.49, $144.51. Total deposit is $2500.00 and the rest would due approximately 4-6 weeks.

V. New business

a) Denise Coleman suggested method of quick fundraising. Doing a candy bar sale, from World Finest Chocolate company fundraiser. Denise will head the candy fundraiser. Approximately two weeks for delivery of candy bars. We will order 60 boxes to raise $1500.00

b) Sally Meza to head Bar-B-Que fundraiser through Ray’s BBQ. $20.00 dollars will purchase about 1,000 tickets. About of 50% of proceeds will go to the class reunion. BBQ tickets will be about $6.00. Date for BBQ sale of tickets will be June 2^nd through June 15^th sale dates and BBQ pick-up June 16^th through the 27^th. Sally will be in charge of BBQ fundraiser.

c) Invitations of MHS Faculty. Possible list of faculty members, Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Krulock, Mrs. Connelly, Mrs. Mary Lou Cavazos. Ms. Chris Salinas, Mrs. Rodriguez, Mrs. Christina Reyna. Mr. Ocana. Mr. Villareal and Mr. Garza. Coach Roy Garcia. Coach Howell and Mrs. Howell, Liz Garza.

VI. Adjournment

Gerardo Flores adjourned the 2^nd of the MHS Reunion Class of 1989 meeting at 11:50am.

March 15^th, 2008

I. Call to order

Jerry Flores called to order the regular meeting of the Mission High School 20^th Year Reunion at 10:30am on March 15^th, 2008 in River of Life Church.

II. Roll call

Denise Coleman conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Jerry Flores, Denise Coleman, Melinda De La Garza, Lilia Ledesma, Lino Ochoa, Jennifer Alaniz, Janie Solis, Irma Venecia, Belinda Gutierrez, Sally Anzaldua, Epi Cervantes, Kelly Chapa, Edna Clemons and Mandy Vair

III. Approval of minutes from last meeting

Denise Coleman, there were no previous minutes, this is our first meeting.

a) Plan subcommittees needed in order to plan events (Weekend November 7^th and 8^th)

e) Open bank account for purposes of paying for events for the reunion. (Jerry Flores, Chairman, Denise Coleman, Secretary/Admin, Sally Meza, Treasurer. Denise and Sally will be official signers on the account with Jerry having final approval on expenditures. Bank account to be established at First National Bank located on Conway St. in Mission, Texas.

VII. Meeting detailed notes

First item discussed was the planning of the subcommittees needed in order to plan the events for the weekend of November 7^th and 8^th 2008, which is the homecoming game for Mission High School.

· Fundraiser: 80’s Night Clubbing – Lilia, Terry, Belinda, Mandy

· Friday, November 7^th – Subcommittees

§ Friday Morning 8am – 12pm: Golf Tournament – Lilia, Terry, Lino

§ Friday Noon: Alumni Lunch & School Tour – Jerry

§ Friday Afternoon : Pep Rally – Sally & Melinda

§ Friday Evening: Game – Edna

§ Friday Evening: After Game Drinks – Kelly, Stacie, Lino

· Saturday, November 8^th – Subcomittees

§ Saturday 10am-2pm: Family Picnic – Janie, Jennifer, Dina, Epi, Belinda, and Mandy

§ Saturday 6:30pm – 12pm: Dinner & Dance – Mandy, Meli, Epi, Irma, Edna

Classmate list – Denise will contact administrative office to get 1989 class personal info such as address, etc.. will mail postcard informing them of class reunion.

Janie will post flyer/postcard in newspapers.

Lilia and Terry will assist in promoting the class reunion on television, ads, etc.

· Ticket Price set at $75 per individual and set a tier price package

§ Package to include Dinner/Dance and DVD memorabilia (pics)

· Friday Game Ticket $8 addition

· Fundraiser: 80’s Night Clubbing

§ Goal to receive a % of sales from selected nights for the Class of 89. Committee members are to promote the evening throughout the coming months.

· Friday, November 7^th

§ Golf Tournament – Committee member’s goal to raise $25-$30K and provide $1000-$5000 scholarships. Planning to have all costs covered by local businesses.

§ Alumni Lunch & School Tour – Jerry will contact and make arrangements.
